Individual & Family Colorado Health Insurance

Most people want and need health insurance but it's not always easy to get. You may be working for an employer that doesn't offer group coverage, you might be self-employed or you may not be working at all.

The good news is that individual health insurance can provide you with the security you need, and in most cases, it's less expensive then group plans.

Comparing individual and family plans can seem overwhelming but we have streamlined the process for you.

We offer:

  • A large selection of quality health insurance plans including PPOs, HMOs, POSs, HSAs, and short term insurance.
  • A quick and easy online process to receive quotes, compare and enroll.
  • Quality customer service in person at our Fort Collins office or assistance by phone. Our services are absolutely free!

Tips for Comparing plans:
  1. You must qualify for coverage -The issuance of individual health insurance policies is dependent upon the approval of the insurance carrier. Carriers can exclude pre-existing conditions, they can accept you with an increased premium or they can decline to offer you coverage. Always be honest with your medical information. The carriers often times check with the Medical Insurance Bureau (MIB).

  2. Know what you're looking for - There are different ways to evaluate health insurance plans, so before you shop, know what you want. Make a list of the coverage's that are most important to you and use that list when comparing insurance companies and their health plans.

  3. Want to save money? - Consider purchasing a health plan with a deductible of $1000 or more. As a guideline, the higher the deductible is, the lower the premium will be. If you purchase a health plan like this, consider putting money aside to pay for the deductible. Consider an HSA compatible plan that allows you to open special Health Savings Accounts, giving you many tax advantages.

  4. Policies vary, so look at them closely! - Deductibles, co-insurance, out-of-pocket maximums and prescription drug coverage's vary dramatically between plans. Additional deductibles for services like in-patient hospital and out-patient surgeries can apply and most individual policies don't cover maternity. For definitions of these terms please refer to our Health Insurance Glossary.

  5. The stability of your carrier is extremely important - Since you have to medically qualify for coverage, the stability of your health insurance company is extremely important. If you are covered by a lesser carrier and you become ill, you may have a hard time switching to better company with your new health condition. Review the A.M. Best and/or the Standards and Poor's ratings to ensure you go with a top quality carrier.
